I’m starting something new this week; let’s hope it lasts.

I read ALOT. I may not be reading D.H. Lawrence, but with books, magazines, and newspapers I consider myself to be a well-informed person. It’s through this smatterings of readings that I usually create my articles. In actuality, I have a stack 3-5 inches high of material that is the basis of what I want to write articles and ideas about. Unfortunately the reality of being able to tackle all of this material whilst still keeping it fresh and current is something more of a challenge. Which is why I wanted to start this ditty.

Some of these articles will become, or maybe already were, made into larger blog writings; others, will probably just get a noteworthy mention. Either way, I hope you find these lists enjoyable and discover something new to read up on for yourself. It’s my goal to share with you the news that I find interesting and to tell you my $0.03 on it (I like 3 more than 2). I’d like to hear from you as well.

— Again bullying and bullies are on the front page of the news. I’m not saying it like it’s a bad thing, I’m saying it like it’s a sad thing. Bullying is one of those areas, that as a teacher, I will admit I do not have an idea of how to fix it – or start to fix it. And it gnaws at me to know that there are kids that are hurting, hurting so much that they see taking their own life as the only option.

– I do like the concepts, and psychology behind this article. As an educator, the main frustration I have is how to not alienate any of my students — even the bullies (7 out of 10 times, there’s something happening to them too.) I think that showing/teaching/leading by example – that empathy can really be helpful.

– With over five nieces and nephews, classrooms of students, and tutoring students – I’m constantly looking for new books to show them. Who knows, maybe I’ll find the new Harry Potter? But a book by Bob Dylan? A children’s book by Bob Dylan? Hmmm, I think I might just have to buy it and be amazed. I wonder if he will do the book on tape?

This article was focused on the topics and issues surrounding the National School Lunch Week. Although I had no idea it was this specialized week, I am very aware of the concerns facing the food that students eat – and have available to them. I am actually working on a separate article that deals specifically with this topic.

This time we are talking about games. Now, I generally focus on educational games; and probably tangible board games; but this article does talk about how games and gaming in general is on the rise. I find this to be interesting, because as a game inventor I have thought about turning my board game into an app – and maybe I just got more motivation to research that.

–This article seems a bit more my speed and what I am focused and trained on – online educational games. Now this has got me thinking about some possibilities and opportunities. Sorry, off to do some research.
