Teacher’s Corner and Parent’s Corner
One goal of having this blog is to bring out various voices in the world of education. Even by just saying the word ‘Education’ we are open to a plethora of interpretations and meanings; but it is commonly agreed upon that ‘education’ means learning. So with that in mind, there are going to be two new guest bloggers on Education Short List – to guide us in our learning.
One is Meghan Mathis, who will be writing under the tag of ‘Teacher’s Corner.’ She will be writing about education with its connection to Special Education needs. Meghan is an educator who has worked with students in grades K-12 in regular and special education settings. She is a licensed teacher in the state of Pennsylvania. She has taught various subjects and served as a teacher educator, instructional coach, and an intervention teacher for math and reading. In addition to her love of teaching and learning, Meghan also enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
The other is Jennifer. Jennifer, who is also a licensed teacher, will be writing under the tag of ‘Parent’s Corner.’ She will be bringing her unique perspective of being a teacher as well as a parent. Jennifer is a mother, wife, and teacher. Time spent with her family laughing and listening to Elvis Presley, is what makes her so happy. She has been teaching for thirteen years. She loves to see the moment on a students face when they realize, “I’ve got it!” She believes that every student is unique. Each one comes with a history, background, and needs. We as teachers must see to it that all students believe that they can achieve no matter what their history, background, or needs are.
It is my hope, that by including these strong educational voices under the framework of this blog, that people will gain a new insight to the broad topic of Education.
